About

Evidence-based approach

Dr Maryam Omidbeygi provides personalized counselling services tailored to address a wide range of mental health concerns. Her approach integrates various therapeutic modalities to meet the unique needs of each individual or couple. Whether you are facing anxiety, depression, trauma, migration stress, chronic illness, cancer-related stress, or seeking support for health psychology, Dr Omidbeygi is dedicated to helping you navigate these challenges.

Evidenced-based Approaches:

In my clinical work, I use evidence-based therapeutic approaches and tailor treatment to meet the unique needs of each client. I believe that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process, and effective treatment requires flexibility, collaboration, and a deep understanding of each individual’s experiences and goals.

While I integrate a range of evidence-based modalities, Schema Therapy is the primary approach I use in my work. Schema Therapy focuses on identifying and healing long-standing emotional patterns, core beliefs, and coping styles that often develop early in life and continue to influence thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships in adulthood.

Through this approach, therapy aims to increase self-awareness, improve emotional regulation, address deeply rooted patterns, and support meaningful, lasting change—helping clients move toward a more balanced, empowered, and fulfilling life.

Schema Therapy is an integrative and depth-oriented therapeutic approach that focuses on identifying and changing deeply rooted patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. These patterns, known as early maladaptive schemas, often develop in childhood when core emotional needs are not adequately met.

Schema Therapy helps individuals understand recurring emotional struggles and relationship difficulties by addressing their underlying emotional roots, rather than only managing surface-level symptoms.

This approach is particularly helpful for individuals experiencing chronic anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, emotional regulation difficulties, or long-standing life patterns that feel hard to change.

The goal of Schema Therapy is to create lasting emotional change, support healthier relationships, and foster a more compassionate and balanced relationship with oneself.

Benefits of  Schema Therapy

Improved Mental Health

Schema Therapy helps individuals identify and understand deeply rooted emotional patterns that contribute to ongoing psychological distress. By addressing these core schemas, clients often experience reduced symptoms of anxiety, depression, and emotional overwhelm, leading to improved overall mental well-being.

Effective Problem Solving

By increasing self-awareness and insight into long-standing coping styles, Schema Therapy supports more effective and adaptive problem-solving. Clients learn to respond to challenges with greater clarity, flexibility, and emotional balance rather than reacting from old, unhelpful patterns.

Long-Lasting Change

Unlike short-term symptom-focused approaches, Schema Therapy aims for deep and lasting change. By working with core beliefs and emotional needs, clients are supported in creating meaningful and sustainable shifts in how they relate to themselves and the world around them. Improved Mental Health.

Healthier Relationships

Schema Therapy focuses on relational patterns that often repeat across close relationships. Through this work, clients develop healthier boundaries, improved communication, and more secure emotional connections with others.
